Great movie from upcoming film-maker Neill Blomkamp. Great take on the alien invasion scenario and a fantastic performance from Sharlto Copley who I hope we will see a lot more of!

What starts out as a documentary based interview opens up to show the world how truly racist we humans really are. Wikus van de Merwe was chosen by MNU to lead an army of MNU members and soldier to evict the ‘Prawn’ aliens from District 9, a camp set up in 1982 when the alien spaceship first arrived over Johannesburg, South Africa. However, integration has failed and permanent segregation is demanded by all ‘united’ humans to move the ‘Prawns’ further away. The Government have collected a massive amount of alien technology and weapons and this appears to be an underlying fact as well, to collect more. Fortunately, human DNA can not operate the weapons. In one of his ‘eviction raids’ Wikus gets infected with something biological. In a matter of hours he becomes his own worst nightmare as he rapidly metamorphosis's into a half-breed Prawn. Every corrupt individual, evil gangs and military corporations wants and tries to get a piece of him. Some Prawns have a different agenda as all hell breaks loose. Wikus wants to be cured, will he be?

This film keep you watching from start to finish. Great plot, liked the fact that the actor were not very well known which adds to the realism. Interesting and very watchable film style. Great sfx. Highly recommened.

You are not welcome here.

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them.

Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare - they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable - he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.
