Description

James Ernest once again defines the word "qwirky" with Diceland: Deep White Sea. The game consists of semi-collectable (that is, the basic game consists of a fixed set, but promotional componants will later become available) octahedral paper dice, about 2" per edge. These dice have comic-book style artwork and game information printed on each side, and each die represents a character.

The basic goal is to be the first person to reach 50 points, which are earned by "killing" your opponant's characters. Each turn, you may throw a new character into the arena (if you have any available to throw), have one of your characters use his or her action or power, or have one of your characters move. Movement is done by rolling the dice (in the same sense that a wheel rolls, rather than the usual definition). If you throw a new character, he or she may immediately use his or her power, which may be an attack, or a special action which allows you to (as James Ernest loves doing) become a Turn Hog.

Attacking is simple: Each attack has a power rating. If it exceeds the block rating of the defending dice, the defending dice is killed, and the attacker scores its points (printed on side one of each die). If it is equal or less than the defense value, the defending die is merely moved so that a lower value face is face-up.

Diceland: Deep White Sea is the first edition of Diceland. This package includes 25 dice in five armies, as well as the complete basic rules. Deep White Sea is illustrated by Eduardo Muller and designed by James Ernest.
