Description

In Exodus 20 God delivered the Ten Commandments to the nation of Israel. Now for the next several chapters God is going to break it down for them. As we did in Devotions From Genesis and Devotions From Exodus Part One, we will read a chapter and then there will be devotions pulled from specific verses in that particular chapter. I encourage you to get a notebook and pen to keep with you as you read through this devotional. I hope that by taking on this devotional we are able to see how clear the Word of God is as He breaks down His expectations for His people. Take notice of how God takes into account our sinful nature as He delivers His precepts. God is not shocked by the sin of His people. He just asks us to do with it what He says to do with it.The last twenty chapters of Exodus give us some of the ordinances of God and the instructions of the building of the tabernacle and the design of the priestly garments. Through the ordinances God is going to address that gray area our flesh likes to find anytime we have a set of rules before us. Ordinance in Hebrew is "mishpat" and it means the act of deciding a case, judgment, process, procedure, litigation, sentence. These are the "if this happens then do this" things that God is laying out for the nation of Israel. Then as we look at the preparation, building, and design of the tabernacle and the priestly garments we will see how our God has a purpose for everything. He uses every detail to teach us how to worship Him. If you are like me you have come to realize that everyone has their own opinion on how we are to worship a Holy God. Every denomination and culture has their own idea on the right way and many will fight tooth and nail to convince others that their way is the only way. Our God has given us His unchanging word to teach us how to worship Him, therefore let us step aside for just a moment from the opinions and traditions of men and go straight to our God and let Him teach us. Therefore as we read through Devotions From Exodus Part Two may we have a heart that is willing to learn how to worship a Holy God.
