Got it for my flatmate and he loved it
Hello,
Having been a Deep Purple fan for most of my life, I can't tell you how good it is to be able to buy this fantastic DVD without having to buy yet another copy of Made in Japan, as this time the DVD was exclusive to the latest Box set release…Until now…
The viewing is first rate, with combinations of band-member interview extracts, from both, present, recent & past times, all interweaving to project not only the magnitude of the success of Deep Purple & this album, but also reveals why the demise of this line-up happened, explained by the musicians themselves. All the boys have a reasonable & equal amount of interview time, so it's a well- balanced affair.
Other highlights include footage of some of actual concerts in Japan from where the recordings were culled from, plus very interesting “inside” information as to the saving grace that is the anthem “Smoke on the Water”.
The DVD is further augmented with short though informative local-European T.V. Telecasts & documentaries that provide a valued insight into the times that were Europe in the early 1970's, when Deep Purple were the biggest selling & most wanted act in the world.
This is a great DVD, & will be enjoyed by fans & people that like great music in general.
Enjoy, as it's been a long time waiting,
Gregster
Together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Deep Purple have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal” in the early to mid-Seventies. One of the most influential and important guitar bands in history, they have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
“Made In Japan” was recorded live over three nights during 15–17 August 1972 at Festival Hall, Osaka and Budokan, Tokyo. It featured what many consider the classic Deep Purple lineup – Ian Gillan (Vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (Guitars), Roger Glover (Bass), Jon Lord (Organ) and Ian Paice (Drums).
This DVD was part of the Made In Japan Super Deluxe boxset which was released earlier this year.
Features: Made In Japan – The Rise of Deep Purple MKII, Smoke On The Water (Official Clip), The Revolution, Germany 1972 (small documentary piece), Smoke On The Water (live clip from Hoftsra University in 1973).
