"Best Cricket game yet but..."
4 stars"

EA Sports must have thought that Cricket 2005 was a pretty good game, because not much has changed in this new version.

There are noticeable bugfixes 2005, and in fact if you turn off the commentary you eliminate 90 percent of the bugs in 2007. Jim Maxwell is gone, and Mark Nicholas takes his place and even reads from the same script. The commentary in 2007 is sporadic, buggy and bad, but in the games defense this is true of most sports games.

The biggest update to the game from 2005 is that you can re-play the ashes series that England won, and there are some scenarios for you to play through that will unlock the introductory videos that accompany each one.

The graphics are very nice and the game will run on lower end systems, even on high detail. The game runs very well on a 2.8ghz Pentium IV powered notebook with an ATI Radeon 9000 graphics chip. There are some jarring transitions in the motion captured animation which brings down the presentation.

There are 5 difficulty settings now instead of the 3 that were in '05. On the lowest setting you will be hitting every ball for six, and on the highest you will be getting caught out a lot.

Oh, and they have fixed the bowling in this version. It was really really bad in 2005, but now, for the first time ever, bowling is FUN in a Cricket game.

If you didn't like Cricket 2005 then you wont like this game either, but it does fix a lot of the problems in that game.

"Absolutly Useless"

A complete waste of time. first off the gameplay was crap. There is no tutorial, there is no place that tells you what the button for run is. next the batting is bad. there are about 4 difrerent places the ball can go off a shot. the graphics are hopeless and bowling is just continously putting a blue cursor in front of the wickets and pressing a button at the right timje. do not waste your m oney or time on this game.

Description

Thanks to the groundbreaking EA SPORTS Century Stick control system, batting has become more intuitive, responsive and rewarding than ever. For the first time in a cricket game, players can enjoy full control over foot choice, shot, direction, power and timing, all governed through the use of both analog sticks. A back or front foot stroke is selected with the left stick, then shot timing and direction are judged with the right stick. Power is determined by how far the stick is moved – a slight tap can nudge the ball for a quick single or a firm push can send the ball fizzing away to the boundary. Allied to new cameras that deliver a more natural behind-the-stumps batting perspective and a wider view of the field, cricket has never been so easily accessible. With embellished gameplay, a wealth of tournaments, genuine equipment and authoritative new commentary from Mark Nicholas and Richie Benaud, you won't experience cricket this authentic without donning whites and walking down the pavilion steps yourself.

Features:
  • Groundbreaking Control: Use the intuitive dual analog Century Stick batting system to select foot choice, shot direction, power and timing. With button controls to loft shots and advance down the track, you're free to crack a full array of shots all around the wicket. • Greater Depth: A new picture-in-picture display with a shot timing gauge coupled with a running assistance indicator and radar help you make those snap decisions out there in the middle. On-the-fly Dynamic Field Positioning and Quickswitch bowling give you the ability to ratchet up the pressure on the batsmen by changing the field and the bowler's line of attack without a break in play.
  • Tournament Options: Lead this year's eagerly anticipated 3 mobile Ashes campaign Down Under, replay the legendary 2005 npower Test Series or unlock a stack of rewards by accomplishing Ashes challenges. Take part in the frenzy of the fully-loaded, fully-licensed English and Australian One Day blitz of extreme Twenty20 cricket, dive into a complete schedule of Australian State and English County tournaments, tour the world, win the World championship or compete for glory in Test matches and One Day Series games with all the top cricketing nations of the world.
