Author Biography

Roberta Stoker was born in Manhattan, New York City. She studied at Parson's School of Design, Art Student's League, with Degrees in Fine Art from NYU (Bachelors), Hunter College (Masters). Whilst in New York she designed book covers, posters, textiles, and worked as an art director. She moved to Britain in 1974, and explored various aspects of textiles while raising children. Her work has been exhibited in London, Dublin and New York. Roberta combines annual North American visits with continued exploration of the European scene, and commentates on transatlantic arts and crafts exchange. David Rose, an art historian and critic based in Dublin, has been involved in the arts in Ireland for some years, having run a gallery, arranged exhibitions, and written a regular column in The Cork Citizen about artists and craftworkers. Margaret MacNamidhe graduated from N.C.A.D. in 1987 and now teaches there as well as in D.L.C.A.D. She has exhibited widely and has also travelled extensively on scholarships. N.P. James studied painting the Slade School of Art and art history (MA) at Kingston University. With Sarah Batiste he edited and published Cv Journal of Art & Crafts 1988-92, forming Cv Publications in 1992 and Cv/Visual Arts Research in 1995.
