Also the socila effect of war is examined: rationing, the call to arms, the importance of home defence, and the fear of bombing and invasion are all portrayed in this important and fascinating book.

Author Biography

Peter Hancock was born and brought up in Cornwall. He was educated at Poltair School, St Austell, the local sixth-form college and at the University of Exeter. He has taught at prep school in Truro for over fifteen years, his subjects including History and Art.
