Description

Using photographs from the time along with amny taken recently showing the remains of structures and the paraphernalia of war, set alongside a well-researched text, the author paints a vivid picture of the peninsula at war. Also the socila effect of war is examined: rationing, the call to arms, the importance of home defence, and the fear of bombing and invasion are all portrayed in this important and fascinating book.

Author Biography:

Peter Hancock was born and brought up in Cornwall. He was educated at Poltair School, St Austell, the local sixth-form college and at the University of Exeter. He has taught at prep school in Truro for over fifteen years, his subjects including History and Art.
