Description

This book provides a systematical and comprehensive description of some facets of modeling, designing, analyzing and exploring the control allocation and fault-tolerant control problems for over-actuated spacecraft attitude control system under actuator failures, system uncertainties and disturbances. The book intends to provide a unified platform for understanding and applicability of the fault-tolerant attitude control and control allocation for different purposes in aerospace engineering and some related fields. And it is particularly suited for readers who are interested to learn solutions in spacecraft attitude control system design and related engineering applications.

Author Biography:

Prof. Qinglei Hu obtained his B. Eng degree in 2001 from the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Zhengzhou University, P.R. China, and M. Eng. and Ph.D. degree from the department of in Control Science and Engineering at the Harbin Institute of Technology with specialization in controls, P.R. China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. From 2003 to 2014, he had been with the Department of Control Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology and was promoted to the rank of Professor with tenure in 2012. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in Nanyang Technological University from 2006-2007, and from 2008-2009, he visited University of Bristol as Senior Research Fellow supported by Royal Society Fellowship, and from 2010-2014, he visited Concorida University, Lakehead University and Nanyang Technological University again as visiting professor and then, he joined Beihang University in 2014 as “Outstanding Bairen Plan” Professor. His research interests include the design and control of spacecraft attitude system, and fault tolerant control to aerospace engineering. He has published significantly on the subjects with over 100 technical papers while enjoying the application of the theory through astronautic consulting. He has been actively involved in various technical professional societies such AIAA, IEEE and ASME, as reflected by AIAA Associate Fellow, IEEE Senior Member and general chair of many international conferences. He also previously served as Associate Editors for many international journals, such as the Aerospace Science and Technology and IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, etc.. Dr. Bo Li received the B.Eng. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the School of Computer and Information Engineering, Henan University, Kaifeng, China, in 2010, the M.Eng. degree in aerospace engineering with specialty in navigation, guidance, and control from the Civil Aviation University of China, Tianjin, China, in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Control Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2016. He is currently an Associate Professor with Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai, China. His current research interests include spacecraft attitude control, control allocation, fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control, optimal control and optimization methods, UAV-based ports' monitoring, etc. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 papers in journals and conferences. Dr. Bing Xiao received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Tianjin Polytechnic University, Tianjin, China, in 2007, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in control science and engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. From May 2014 to 2017, he was a Professor with the College of Engineering, Bohai University, China. He was also a postdoctoral researcher with the School of Automation, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China. Since 2018, he has been an associate professor with the School of Automation, Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research interests include spacecraft attitude control and its fault-tolerant control design. Prof. Youmin Zhang the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in automatic control from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, China, in 1983, 1986, and 1995, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering & Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He has co-authored seven books, over 550 journal and conference papers, and book chapters. The published papers have been cited 7,635 times with 378 items (h-index of 42) according to the Web of Science (WoS) at the end of 2020. Google Scholar citations are 17,520 with an h-index of 61 and i10-index of 254, respectively. A comprehensive review paper published in 2008 at Annual Reviews in Control on “Bibliographical Review on Reconfigurable Fault-tolerant Control Systems” has gained significant impact in the field worldwide. The paper has been ranked No. 1 in the “Most Cited Papers” and the “Highly Cited Paper” by SCI. Other 5 published papers are also ranked as “Highly Cited Papers”. 11 IEEE relevant conference papers have won best paper awards and 6 on the final list. The book “Active Fault Tolerant Control Systems: Stochastic Analysis and Synthesis” is among the first book published worldwide on the subject of Fault-Tolerant Control Systems by Springer-Verlag in 2003.  His current research interests include fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) and fault-tolerant control (FTC), guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) and signal/image processing techniques with applications to unmanned aerial/space/ground/surface vehicles, smart grids and smart cities. He was awarded as a Concordia University Research Fellow in the Strategic Research Cluster 'Technology, Industry and the Environment' in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding research works and contributions. He has been invited to deliver plenary talks at international conferences/workshops and research seminars worldwide for more than 200 times.Prof. Zhang is a Fellow of CSME, a Senior Member of AIAA and IEEE, and a member of Technical Committee for several scientific societies, including currently as the President of International Society of Intelligent Unmanned Systems (ISIUS).
