True KOL fans will love this album despite reviews! Rumours of the Followill brothers breaking up turned to having a break. It sounds to me they headed back to their roots and returned with the same intensity they've put into their last albums. There's some catchy phrases and riffs that'll have you hooked before you've even finished listening for the first time. (Yes, you'll be singing “I won't ever be your cornerstone…” multiple times! ;P)
I've always been a huge fan of the Kings. From their indie beginnings with classics like The Bucket through to their most commercially recognizable hits like Sex on Fire. their new album follows more in the direction of the latter, but is still a winner. While tracks like Radioactive may be seen as trying to be too radio-friendly (a case of style over substance, plus for some reason I keep thinking about the pigeon incident when I hear that song), fortunately the rest of the album still shows that these boys are very talented, despite pigeons across America disagreeing in a more cruder way.
