Description

How do we separate identity from belief and recover our humanity? Father Dave probes the Christian Scriptures to show how Jesus taught us to move beyond us and them to discover the humanity of the other. He then illustrates the way forward in a series of interviews with Muslim friends, demonstrating that we don’t need to agree on everything before we can embrace each other as sisters and brothers. At a time when Christians and Muslims sorely need to work together to solve the world’s problems, we are too often paralysed by fear and suspicion. This book aims to help us move beyond fear to mutual respect, love and genuine friendship.

Author Biography:

Father Dave Smith is an Anglican parish priest best known for his work with at-risk young people, for which he has received numerous community awards, including three nominations for Australian of the Year. He has also received significant media attention for his accomplishments in his chosen sport of boxing and is Australia’s oldest active professional fighter. Less public, but no less passionate, has been his commitment over many years to help bridge the communication gap between the Christian and Muslim faith communities. Father Dave is the proud father of four children – Veronica, Imogen, Soren and Francesca.
