"An Interesting and Horrifying Movie"

After watching the movie I was horrified at the long lasting devastation caused. I didn't like the idea of nuclear generation power before watching the movie now I'm definitely against it.

"Couldn't look away"

Even though this is a dramatization of the events of Chernobyl it is surprisingly mostly accurate with the few changes being that the actors speak English and a composite character added to represent the multiple scientists that came forward in the disaster. The writing, acting and filming leaves you unable to look away from the screen and needing to watch the next episode and continue to see the events unfold. Knowing that this actually happened sent shivers down my spine and I can't recommend this enough to people who know little or even a lot of this tragic event in history. Please, you just have to see it.

Description

Based on powerful real-life events, ‘Chernobyl’ dramatizes the story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, the Ukraine nuclear plant disaster of April 1986. This five-part miniseries recounts the remarkable stories of the heroes who fought and fell to save Europe from an unimaginable disaster. Jared Harris portrays Valery Legasov, the Soviet scientist chosen by the Kremlin to investigate the accident to reveal how and why it happened. ‘Chernobyl’ tells a tale of lies and cowardice, of courage and conviction, and of human failure and human nobility.

Critic reviews for Chernobyl

“[Chernobyl] is not just excellent television; it's paradigm-shifting historical storytelling, the kind of tale that alters, ever-so-subtly, the texture of the real world.”

  • Vanity Fair

Chernobyl tells a haunting nightmare that speaks to us still. It seems to ask if we're always doomed to act only when it's too late.”

  • Entertainment Voice

“It's a portrait of a meltdown on too many levels to count. It doesn't take a nuclear physicist to see why it makes a lot of sense to look back on this moment right now.”
