One night in a dark Parisian street, a seemingly typical bourgeois, French couple, Helene and Paul witness the brutal assault on a young Algerian prostitute. Paul refuses to help her and they drive on. Helen's conscience drives her to find the girl, Malika where upon a friendship ensues that will affect them both profoundly.
