Description

Champion is a multiple award winning American documentary directed by Joe Eckardt, the story of actor Danny Trejo.

Danny Trejo, you know the man. He has fierce tattoos, and frequently plays a thug in your favorite movies. Behind the ink and the wicked characters he plays on screen lies the story of a troubled childhood which included drug addiction, armed robbery and extensive prison time.

Champion chronicles his life through raw and candid conversations about everything from trying heroin at age 12 with his uncle, who was his role model, to armed robbery, violence and time in prison, including an emotional return to his actual cell behind the gray walls of San Quentin State Prison. From despair to ‘Desperate Housewives’, Danny Trejo's life is an awe inspiring testament to the strength of the human spirit and all of it is captured in Champion.
