This collection examines the state-of-the-art in carbon nanotube (CNT) research, providing guidance for anyone who is exploring problems where CNTs may provide design solutions. Finally, the book addresses advances in yarn spinning methods, yarn structures and properties. Drawing on his experience in the textile industry, the book's editor presents academic research in a way that is comprehensible and useful to materials scientists and engineers in practice.

Author Biography:

Dr Menghe Miao is a Principal Research Scientist in materials science and engineering at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Melbourne, Australia. With a PhD in textile engineering from The University of Leeds, his research interests and publications embrace many facets of the science and engineering of fibre-based materials, including fibres, yarns and fabrics, production and properties of carbon nanotube yarns, fibre-reinforced composite materials, and textile sensors, actuators and energy storage devices. Dr Miao established the fundamental equations of yarn twisting dynamics, which form the basis of this book. He has published ~180 refereed journal papers, 2 edited books and numerous technical reports for textile and related industries.
