Bye Bye Monkey
Lafayette (Gerard Depardieu), a young lighting technician working for a theatre in New York City, is assaulted by a group of radical feminist actors looking to glean inspiration for their upcoming play. When he finds a baby chimpanzee in the shadow of the World Trade Centre – the son of the recently deceased giant ape King Kong – he begins a relationship with one of the women and a most unusual family is formed.
This enchanting film was nominated for the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at Cannes Film Festival in 1978 and received the Grand Prize of the Jury.
