Bill Jr., the estranged son of Mississippi riverboat captain Steamboat Bill, returns from Boston to grudgingly work the boats. As his dad tries to toughen him up for life on the river, a fair damsel catches his eye, plunging him into all sorts of trouble. But it's when his father lands himself in jail that Steamboat Bill Jr must rise to the occasion to rescue his Pa, and Keaton demonstrate his easy gift for pioneering stunts and classic comedy.
