Bravetown
Josh (Lucas Till) lives the fast life. He is the most popular DJ in New York, and spends his nights performing and partying hard. But after an accidental drug overdose he is sentenced by the court to live out the rest of his underage year in the custody of his estranged father in the small town of Paragon, North Dakota. He is quickly enrolled in the local high school, where he intends to keep a low profile. His plan is crushed when he is recruited by Mary, the captain of the school’s struggling dance team, to mix the music for their routines. When the team wins their first competition in seven years on the strength of their new DJ, Josh starts to consider that life in a small town may be less of a “sentence” than he first feared. With dazzling dance routines and set to the backbeat of the groundbreaking Electronic Dance Music scene, BRAVETOWN tells the story of a boy with an extraordinary musical talent set on a journey to find what he was looking for the least, but undoubtedly needed the most.
Bravetown Reviews
“What's best about the film is its willingness to go deep, its strange yet effective fluidity between serious scenes and dance numbers, and Duran's grace with weighty subjects.” – The Dissolve
“Satisfies mainly due to its affecting ensemble and considerable emotional intelligence.” – Village Voice
