This kit is WAY better than I thought it would be. I bought it because the builtin mics for WebCams, phones, laptops won't typically pick up frequency ranges much outside the human voice range particularly well. Online piano lessons do NOT work well with such mics as a consequence. The little BOYA mic however has good response for most of the piano notes, only dropping off for the last octave or so (not such a bad thing). The mount for the phone is great – you can put it in portrait and landscape mode. The double-handles can be used without the tripod as an alternative stand, and are great for “getting a grip” and aligning your phone just where you want it. The tripod part is really solid – not plastic junk and has a “squat” position as well as a more upright position – good for heavy phones and or cameras and such. The mounting screw on the tripod is standard for fitting into any camera. The mount also has multiple positions for where you can attach the tripod, or any tripod for that matter, and multiple slot points to position the microphone on top or around the side. As for the piano-lesson side of things, the reaction from the piano teacher was, “That is GREAT!” – rare to get any such exclamation from her!! The other great feature is that this unit is completely portable – only a smart phone is needed to complete the kit. Note that half the battle with getting the piano-lesson to “GREAT” was to do with first finding and then adjusting the video conference settings to turn off noise cancellation and enable “original sound”.
