Description

Dedicated to all those boys who carried their scars into manhood, Boy on a Wire is about an underdog who bites back. Dedicated to all those boys who carried their scars into manhood, Boy on a Wire is about an underdog who bites back. Sent to boarding school at a young age, Jack Muir quickly has to decide who he is going to be. Will he roll over or bare his teeth at the bullies, the bullied and the boarding school system? Jack gets by with a quick wit and a macabre sense of humour - but not everyone is so lucky. Boy on a Wire depicts alienation and the beginnings of depression with poignancy and humour.

Author Biography:

Jon Doust is the author of three novels- Boy on a Wire, To the Highlands and now Return Ticket. Jon was born into a farming and retailing family, and after a short career farming and retailing, he left for a life on the hippy trail in South Africa and then to live on a kibbutz in Israel. In a desperate state, with his first marriage and his life falling apart, he sought solace in study at Curtin University (then the WA Institute of Technology) where he gained a BA in English. He has worked as a journalist, professional speaker, comedian and facilitator. These days he lives in a place he has loved all his life - Kincannup, Kinjarling, better known as Albany, Western Australia.
