This text is for teachers who are looking, or being encouraged, to undertake research in their schools. Author Biography:

Olwen MacNamara is a Senior Research Fellow at the Manchester Metropolitan University. She has recently undertaken two ESRC funded projects researching evidence-based professional practice in the context of the National Numeracy Strategy.
