Author Biography:

MAJOR THOMAS LANGSTON REEVES SMITH retired from the U. S. Army in 1998 after serving for sixteen years as a commissioned officer and four years as an enlisted aircraft mechanic in the U. S. Navy. Major Smith received his Ph. D. in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University in December 2007. When not writing or singing with Masterworks Chorale Ensemble, Dr. Smith shows up at the Washington State Department of Transportation, where he pretends to be a Transportation Economist. He created and edits The Hybrid Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Report. Dr. Smith, in addition to careers as a soldier and sailor, has been a garbage man, bartender, and minister. And raced sailboats. Dr. Smith has traveled to all seven continents and all 50 U. S. States. He lives in Olympia, Washington with his wife Katherine. She is a CPA and works as the Internal Audit and Policy Manager for the Washington State Department of Corrections. Kathy also sings with Masterworks. They have one daughter, Jennifer, who lives in Seattle and is a budget analyst for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. She is a semi-professional dancer.
