Author Biography:

David A. Stewart, Ed.D. David Stewart was a professor and director of the Deaf Education program at Michigan State University, where he prepared teachers to teach Deaf and hard of hearing children and oversaw the ASL program. Stewart is the author of seven books and more than 60 academic publications related to ASL, sociocultural aspects of the Deaf community, ASL Interpreting, and the education of Deaf and hard of hearing children. As a Deaf individual, Stewart had long ties with the Deaf community and its members, and he served on the Board of Trustees for many years at Gallaudet University.  Jennifer Stewart, M.S.  Jennifer Stewart serves as the program coordinator and lead instructor of the ASL program at Henry Ford College, where she helped develop the course curriculum for the Certificate of Deaf Studies. Stewart obtained her Associates of Applied Science in ASL Interpretation for the Deaf and a Deaf Studies Certificate from Sinclair Community College. While working as an ASL Interpreter, she continued her education and received a B.S. in ASL Interpretation for the Deaf, then earned a M.S. in Special Education, and a Teaching Certificate for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students from Saint Joseph's University. She is also an ASL instructor and curriculum advisor for online ASL instruction, a member of the ASTLA, and an ASL Club advisor. About the Publisher In the 1930s, Manuel H. Barron opened a bookstore in Brooklyn, New York.  People from the community asked Mr. Barron about books that might be available to help their children study for the New York State Regents exams. After realizing there wasn't anything available, Mr. Barron created his own study guides. 80 years later, Barron's has helped millions of people prepare for their next step.
