"James Cameron Does It Again."
5 stars"

James Cameron has a penchant for making history making films (The Terminator, Aliens, Terminator 2, Titanic and now Avatar). It is a little disappointing though that after making everyone buy the film only edition back in April that now there's a collectors edition with three different versions of the film coming (and then when 3D TVs become the rage around the world the 3D version will be released), although I guess that's the nature of the beast, money talks in Hollywood.

I still rate this as the best film I've ever seen, regardless of which version I choose to watch. It may not have pleased every film watcher out there but it's more than good enough for me!

"Coming of age" Purchased on Mighty Ape

It was truly amazing that the basic DVD of Avatar that came out earlier this year was totally sold-out worldwide. Sure… The BluRay was still readily available, but not everyone fell for that ploy and got that option. So I waited patiently in anticipation of the extended version release. I'm always game for the extended films, because there's always the question with some scenes if more would've been better. As the previous previewer mentioned, some liked it, some didn't. My immediate family and siblings are divided such. Mum and me totally got the Spiritual side and the exploitation of an indigenous people for the wealth of their lands or in this case the entire planet, to stripmine it for a commodity. However my sister and her son didn't get it at all. Maybe it just struck a nerve and she decided to ignore it. Or maybe some religious people really don't get it at all. Dad liked the effects – the story went totally over his head. My brother and his kids liked the action and just like Dad didn't quite follow the storyline. Such is the diversity of opinions in my family. Some people get it, some don't. Coming of age does not only concern teenagers, and this movie has an amazing insight with scope of the imagination. The story of the living Earth and all living things are connected reminds me a lot of the Final Fantasy games (stories).
