Author Biography:

This collection of articles created by students and young academics, and scientific results obtained from the experiments and monitoring made on board the tall ship Nadezhda would not be possible without the main academic advisor, Dr Oleg A. Bukin. His great interest in Laser Optics and Earth Sciences drove him to combine these scientific fields in order to research the possibilities of climate change control. In the 90s, he organized and brought to life a “Sailing University” on board the ship Nadezhda, belonging to the Maritime State University and named after Admiral G. I. Nevelskoy (from Vladivostok in Russia). The “Sailing University” carries out a unique combination of scientific research and education. It is one of the best ways to prepare a highly qualified young generation of researchers for work in the future.
