Description

Anne of the Island is the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Coming after Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island follows Anne Shirley from the age of 18 to 22. In this book, Anne attends Redmond College in Kingsport, where she is studying for her BA. The title of the book reflects the development of Anne. While studying away from Prince Edward Island and in particular when visiting the place of her birth, she finds herself identifying the Island as her true home. Several times, she denies being a 'Blue Nose', as those born in Nova Scotia were nicknamed, considering herself an Islander to the core. Since publication, the Anne of Green Gables series have sold more than 50 million copies and have been translated into 20 languages.
