This is Kathleen Carey's first children's book. She holds Masters degrees in Theology and in psychiatric nursing, and has training in mediation and spiritual direction. Carey is an oil painter who has exhibited nationally. She has won awards at the Salmagundi Club of New York and the Minnesota State Fair. One of her skyscape paintings was part of a three-year permanent show at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, and is in the permanent art collection of the Smithsonian Institute. Carey has also co-authored research papers on the importance of the moral emotions in everyday life. The book is whimsically illustrated by Matt Wells, a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, whose work is shown at several local galleries.
