Angels Blood is the First novel from ‘A Guild Hunter’ series by Nalini Singh. It was the first book I've read by Singh and all I can say is “Wow”. I've heard good things about this book, but nothing compared to what I read. It was absolutely brilliant! It is for sure one of my new favorites. I'm glad I bought book one and two at the same time, because I cannot wait to see what happens next for Elena and Raphael.
Elena is a born hunter, who was rejected from her family for being different. Some people call her a vampire hunter but her job is more close to that of a Bounty Hunter. She tracks the wanted vampires for the angels and returns them to their owners. She's the best of the best and always get the job done. Which is why Rachel the Archangel of Manhattan, beautiful as he is deadly wanted her help. No mortal would wish to cross Raphael, but Elena doesn't take crap from noone. She's a beautiful, strong woman. A Warrior. What she didn't count on, is that Raphael is only attracted to warroir woman.
The relationship between Elena and Raphael is very fresh and exciting. Singh knows how to keep you on your toes and tease you. Every time I thought, “This is it.” it turned out I was wayy off. Rachael was a very original and well written character. I loved the idea of the angels and vampires. To be able to see them flying over the city as a natural thing.. That would be amazing.
But not everything about the angels are beautiful. They are truly powerful beings who don't feel humanity as they once did. Humans are merely “toys” for them to use how they wish. Some are more gental and caring than others, but most still believe since our lives are so shortly lived, we are weak and replaceable. And compared to the angels we are, but we can truly do world changing things in our short life span. Elena changes everything.. Let's just hope it's only for the good.
I HIGHLY recommend this novel for those who love urban fantasy. There's amazing action, romance and horror to get you addicted for quite some time. Even while I'm writing this, I'm thinking of book two. I better start it before I go crazy!
