Description

This book describes both the theory behind the analytical process and its practical application. The key methods of analytical chemistry are explained by providing the reader with just enough background and equations to understand what is being measured and how. Each chapter contains schematics to illustrate the defining features of the method described. The text itself is short and concise but provides plenty of references for further reading.

Author Biography:

Dr. Myint Myint Sein obtained her PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Yangon, Myanmar in 1999. While doing her doctoral studies in the University of Yangon, she won a DAAD scholarship from Germany, and did her PhD thesis at the Department of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry (IAC) of Gerhard-Mercator University in Duisburg. After her PhD, she worked as a Lecturer in Chemistry Department at the University of Yangon, Myanmar, till 2002. In August 2002 she moved to Germany and worked as a research scientist and was involved in various research projects at IAC in the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). From 2009 to 2011 she did her post-doc studies there. After that, she continued her career as a research scientist in the field of elemental analysis based on X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) at the University of Rhine-Waal in Kleve till 2016. There, she and her research team were awarded the University prize of economic development in the region of Kleve. In 2016, together with a partner company, they patented their new finding from their research project. In July 2016 she joined a group of the Institut of Materialprüfung Glörfeld GmbH (www.imglabor.de) in Willich as an Executive Assistant at the beginning. Then after, she worked as a General Manager till end of 2021. In August 2018, she founded a new company named “Element Mass Spectrometry Services (ELMASPECS) GmbH” together with her colleague Mr. Peter Glörfeld in Willich (www.elmaspecs.de). Their main focus is on the analysis of traces and ultra-traces in highly pure metals, alloys, compounds as well as in coating layers by means of elemental mass spectrometric techniques including Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GD-MS). She is a member of the German Chemical Society, GDCh (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker) and also of the GDMB (Gesellschaft der Metallurgen und Bergleute), regularlly participating in round robin tests within the GDMB and the other chemical organizations
