Rachel St. Claire, an attractive, prominent and successful matrimonial attorney, runs into handsome, wealthy, and successful Michael Parrish. Michael, still married, is in the process of ending his long-term marriage. He attempts to amicably deal with his confrontational and angry wife while he begins to pursue a sizzling romantic relationship with Rachel. Meanwhile, Stephen Monsell, who happens to be Michael's brother-in-law, hires Rachel's law firm to handle his divorce. Stephen and Michael had been business partners but a lawsuit between them ended their relationship. Rachel is not aware that Michael and Stephen are related until the night Stephen is gunned down while he and Michael were jogging in a park near Michael's home. Who shot him and why? Was Michael part of a scheme to get his brother-in-law out of the way? The horrific incident becomes the debut of some accusatory and fiery exchanges between Michael and Rachel.
