"Worst 3D Ever"

So it will come as no surprise that this is a bad movie. It stars Michael Pare and a bunch of unknown (terrible) actors battling some crappy CGI seafood, so it was pretty much what I expected. I think it must be a European production as the fake US accents have a distinct Scandinavian flavour. What came as a surprise was how awful the 3D was. Truly, this is worthy of study in a classroom setting of how not to do it. It's all post-converted on, probably, a Commodore or an Amiga (not really, but you get the idea). Someone should have told the techs that stuff behind people is, ya know, behind them. Not in front. This work is so bad it's almost funny. Apart from that, the general 2D picture is fine, and the plain Dolby Digital 5.1 (no high resolution options) is passable.

Description

Amphibious 3D (aka Amphibious Creature of the Deep) is a 2010 creature horror film on blu-ray 3D, starring Francis Magee, Janna Fassaert and Michael Paré.

Marine biologist, Skylar Shane, hires an expat charter boat captain, Jack Bowman, to help her find prehistoric life form samples in the north Sumatran Sea. During the expedition, they run into some of Jack’s ‘friends’, a gang of smugglers headquartered on a fishing platform in the middle of the sea. Tamal, an orphan sold into servitude by his dark shaman uncle, begs Skylar to take him away. She empathizes with the boy not knowing what lurks beneath the dark inky water, waiting to surface. Ever since Tamal arrived, mysterious things begin to happen and Skylar and Jack must battle the terror once locked deep in the abyss by an old civilization.

From the Monsterama Collection. Presented with both 2D & 3D viewing options.
