American Sheep introduces the "remarkable story" of how sheep helped shape American history from the colonial era through the early twentieth century. By introducing the readers to a cast of characters--some forgotten and some famous--whose lives intersected with sheep, the book illuminates the roles the animals played in the "growth and development of the United States." Author Biography:

BRETT BANNOR is the Manager of Animal Collections at the Atlanta History Center. He is the author of Bighorn Sheep, as well as several articles and chapters, including "Did Lewis and Clark Know That Bighorn Sheep Existed?" in We Proceeded On (2018) and "A Republic of Wool: Founding Era Americans' Grand Plans for Sheep" in Journal of the American Revolution (2018).
