"Excellent movie, as soon as it started you were hooked."

This movie is one that keeps your attention from the moment it begins and so much is happening you can't miss a minute. I was thoroughly entertained and by the end I had learnt so much too. It just draws you along the story and you get so involved with the characters it feels like you know them well by the end. Wonderful movie.

"Amazing"
5 stars"

For those of you who are looking for a true life rendition motion picture then I recommend Amazing Grace, the life of William Wilberforce, the man who rid Britian of the slave trade, though many years it took this movie captures the important moments that led to the historic vote within the British parliment ,powerful performances from all the cast and with Michael Apted behind the camera each scene flows into the next, not to give to much away but the final moments of the story are indeed moving to say the least, never given the grace it so derserved on its theatrical release this is definately a tale that needed to be told

The story is true . It tells of the years of William Willberforce's battle with the sugar barons in England's Parliament who were opposed to the abolition of the slave trade as the would lose their lucrative income.

Description

Amazing Grace follows Wilberforce’s career through his 20’s and 30’s, as he and his fellow humanitarians make the issue of slavery a talking point, not only in political circles, but also throughout the country. They wage the first modern political campaign, using petitions, boycotts, mass meetings and even badges with slogans to take their message to the country at large.

Boasting a terrific ensemble cast, Amazing Grace also stars Romola Garai as Barbara Spooner, the beautiful and headstrong young woman who shares Wilberforce’s passion for reform, and who becomes his wife after a whirlwind courtship. Michael Gambon (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) is Lord Fox, an MP that is convinced by Wilberforce to join the fight against the slave trade. Rufus Sewell (Legend of Zorro) plays Thomas Clarkson, one of Wilberforce’s allies in the anti-slavery movement, and Grammy winning Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour is Olaudah Equiano, an African sent as a slave to the Colonies who bought his freedom and made his home in London where he became a leading figure in the fight to end the slavery of his fellow countrymen.

“You may choose to look the other way but you can never again say you did not know.”
