Description

Living with a chronic debilitating disease can be devastating. For the author Willis Merriman, it is more of a thoughtful adventure. Merriman, an octogenarian has been living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for over 20 years. Through the process of diagnosis, to life adjustments, to learning to be a kid again, this book reads more like a thoughtful and at times entertaining journey about life. Through personal reflection, wisdom, positivity and humor Merriman provides a guide for living with a chronic disease, growing old, and the importance of altering perspective and appreciating what "is." This guide would benefit those who are living with a chronic disease as well as their family members and caregivers, and basically anyone who is willing to learn about the circle of life through a realistic and humorous lens.

Author Biography:

Willis (Bill) Merriman was diagnosed with ALS more than twenty years ago upon retirement. In his retirement he moved to Connecticut to ski, travel, and write. Although he has spent a considerable amount of time writing about his many eclectic interests, much of Bill's writing has been about his journey with ALS. An ordained minister of the United Church of Christ, Bill spent most of his career working with ecumenical and interfaith agencies throughout the country and around the world. His work and his life have been devoted to helping those less fortunate - being their advocate and at times their voice.
