Description

What is adenomyosis A lot of people will ask that question when they see the title of this book, and that is the reason it was written. I personally lived with this uterine disorder for seventeen years before I finally received a correct diagnosis after my hysterectomy. Adenomyosis is a disorder of the uterus that causes very heavy menstrual bleeding, painful abdominal cramping (comparable to kidney stone pain or labor pain), prolonged menstrual bleeding (up to two weeks), severe bloating, anemia, headaches, and much, much more. Adenomyosis affects millions of women and dramatically reduces their quality of life. Very little attention has been given to this disorder, and that is why so many people have never heard of it. Even some physicians are not that familiar with it! This book reviews the recent clinical studies on adenomyosis and discusses the current options in diagnosis and treatment while looking ahead to the future in adenomyosis research. In addition, xenoestrogens (dangerous man-made substances that act like estrogen in the body) are discussed in-depth since this disorder has been linked to excess estrogen. Phytoestrogens, herbs, diet, exercise, and even omega-3 fatty acids are all reviewed for their use in helping to reduce the symptoms of adenomyosis. Current ongoing studies are included; however, they are few and far between. Much more attention needs to be given to this uterine disorder to give those who suffer from it some hope for a better life!

Author Biography:

Even though she never planned to be an author, Maria Yeager began writing books in 2009. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and received her BS in Microbiology from Eastern Kentucky University. In 1988, she began her long career at a laboratory technologist and eventually specialized in cytogenetics. During those years, she became interested in alternative medicine, so she pursued and received a Master in Holistic Nutrition and a Family Herbalist Certificate. However, a back injury changed the course of her life, and she had to leave her full-time job. While she was under medical treatment for her back, she wrote her first tea book, Maria's Mixes - A How-to Guide on Making Your Own Herbal Teas, during her spare time. The overwhelming response to this book propelled her to write more books, and today, she writes as much as she can and is happy to be called an author. Maria writes mostly about her own life experiences, and all but one of her books are non-fiction. The most important project in her life is her work on adenomyosis, a uterine disorder similar to endometriosis. Maria personally suffered from adenomyosis for seventeen years, and she did not receive a correct diagnosis until after her hysterectomy. She now helps other women and works as a patient advocate. In addition to two books she has written on the subject, she has also petitioned the NIH for more funding, and she has sent numerous petitions to research institutions asking for the development of more well-controlled studies on the disorder. Additionally, she runs her own website, "Adenomyosis Fighters", and she has her own support Facebook page where she has over seven hundred followers.
