Author Biography:

Dr Bastian Rapp is currently employed as Head of Group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute of Microstructure Technology, Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, Germany. His research interests are biomechanical engineering, microfluidics, biomaterials and microfabrication. Dr. Frederik Kotz-Helmer studied mechanical engineering at the Karslruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. During his phD thesis he developed novel strategies for the fabrication of transparent glasses. His work has been published in Journals like Nature, Science or Advanced Materials. He is Co-founder and Chief Science Officer (CSO) of Glassomer, which commercialized glass 3D printing and injection molding. For his work he has been awarded among others the Innovators under 35 by MIT Technology Review Europe and the Deutsche Studienpreis.
