But several typographical errors, which were adopted from that Edinburgh edition, from which the first American edition was copied, have been transmitted through subsequent editions to the present time with such scrupulous exactness, that they have now become canomzed, and are received as authority. Besides these, other errors have been creeping in, till a thorough revision of the work has become necessary.
