Description

Acres of Shadow is a collection of poetry that offers insight into the mind and spirit of an individual as they struggle to find meaning in life's most difficult moments. This book is an effort to bring awareness to suicide prevention as well as bring light to mental health issues that too often go untreated rather than being viewed as shameful or embarrassing. These poems are categorized by humor, tragedy, and beauty; however, readers will undoubtedly find themselves cringing, laughing, and crying at different points throughout each poem. As dark humor peppers the page along with uplifting lyrics and masterful imagery, Acres of Shadows bridges genres while simultaneously educating through compelling storytelling - all culminating in one powerful narrative experience.

Author Biography:

As a little girl, Aisha Tariqa Abdul Haqq enjoyed writing poetry. Once she grew up and become an adult, she desired for others to read her work, so she opened her own publishing company and made books. One of these books is called Four Years in Chrysalis, which was written over the course of four years. This story talks about sorrows, loss, heartbreak, and simultaneously moving towards emotional maturity, where one develops a commitment to their greater purpose. The second book, Acres of Shadow, also came out after two years with themes centered on surviving while having suicidal thoughts - taking readers through their stories of recovering from mental illnesses while providing insightful reflections on the past. Aside from making books, Aisha has an interest in public policy, education, literature, music, and fashion
