"The sweet result of caring to research for something "
5 stars"

If you want a book about the Glaswegian band Franz Ferdinand, which can actually differeniate between the members of the band ‘An A-Z Of Franz Ferdinand’ is for you. You would think that this wouldn't be an important point, but it shows just how other so called ‘biographies’ about the band so far cannot achieve this simple task… which I am glad to say that Helen Chase has achieved this task and much more.

An A-Z Of Franz Ferdinand is the book for any fan of Franz Ferdinand, it has been throughly researched by Helen Chase, who took time out from being an English teacher to completely devote herself to doing everything to research for the book which included extensive interviews with the band, the fans and close relations of the band. The ending result is of course this encylopedia type quality of a book about Franz Ferdinand.

Divided into 26 interesting topics the book basically goes through the alphabet from A for Art to Z for Zipper. Each topic corresponds with an aspect of Franz Ferdinand and can be read alone as an article. The glossy photographs that accompany the articles are pretty varied and scattered generously throughout this book, video stills, studio photos, Fan pictures and the even the occassional picture of Nick McCarthy wearing lederhosen.

This book is a great book for any Fan of The Franz. I highly recommend this book for anyone who want to read up on Franz, or even to leave it on your coffee table to have an occassional flick through and look at the pictures. Get it especially because Helen Chase got the names right! Yes!

Description

Based on extensive research and up-to-date exclusive interviews (including discussions about the third album) with Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Nick McCarthy, Paul Thomson and others, this book is a celebration of Franz Ferdinand's first five years. Put together with the co-operation of the band and fans around the world, it is a comprehensive, highly illustrated and entertaining guide to the group who have brought credibility and fun back to pop music. One of the UK's most successful pop bands in recent years, Franz Ferdinand formed in Glasgow, Scotland at the beginning of 2002. Since releasing their breakthrough single Take Me Out in 2004 to worldwide acclaim, they have gone on to sell more than six million albums and have received recognition in many quarters - they were the first band to receive a Mercury Prize, Brit Awards and NME Awards within the space of twelve months. Known for their guitar driven, disco influenced, catchy pop melodies and intelligent lyrics Franz Ferdinand oversee every aspect of their creative output believing that the imagery of a band is as important as the sound. They are currently writing and recording their third album. The band have a considerable UK and world fan base and appeal to both mainstream and indie types
