Dissatisfied with a liberal Republican party, American conservatives in the 1960s engineered a revolution. Mainstream conservatives advocated reform through the development of party and electoral solutions, while extremists looked to private organizations. Jonathan M. Schoenwald is a Lecturer in the Humanities at Stanford University. Previously he taught at the College of Wooster.
