John Fox was an American journalist, short story writer and novelist. Fox was born in Kentucky, educated at Harvard, and became a journalist in New York. A Mountain Europa was his first novel serialized in Century Magazine. The lives of the mountain people are beautifully told intertwined with beautiful descriptive passages about this rural untamed mountainous region. The story begins on a road with a young girl riding a bull and a man and a dog. Fox weaves his tales with the life experiences he had living in the Kentucky region.
