Description

This is the ultimate illustrated introduction to the history of Western philosophy. Charting more than 2,500 years of Western philosophy and philosophers, from the ancient Greeks to the biggest minds of the last century, Bryan Magee’s A History of Philosophy explores key ideas like science and democracy, offering a perspective on society in the 21st century, and posing the question: where do we go from here? Combining clear, accessible text with illustrative works of art and artifacts and key quotes, the book introduces the greats of Western philosophy and their most groundbreaking ideas. Feature panels discuss other related ideas and key works to place each individual and idea within a wider social, cultural, or scientific context. Celebrate the world's most revolutionary concepts and understand how these ideas continue to shape our world. Develop your own perspectives and explore relevant issues such as modern logic and religion with this wonderfully comprehensive illustrated guide. In a world of evolving ideas, A History of Philosophy is a fantastic resource to revisit again and again.
