Author Biography:

Richard Holmes (1946-2011) was Professor of Military and Security Studies at Cranfield University and the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. He presented the popular BBC television series War Walks and The Western Front. He wrote more than twenty books and was the General Editor of The Oxford Companion to Military History. Martin Marix Evans is an independent writer and military historian. He has written numerous books, among them Naseby 1645: the triumph of the New Model Army, Encyclopedia of the Boer War, Over the Top, and Victory on the Western Front.
