"A unconventional love story"
5 stars"

This was a really great book about the love two women have for eachother and the prejudice of the time. Ingrid is rich, beautiful and independent and travels around western australia collecting specimans. She is trying to forget her lover Helena, who betrayed her by marrying a man. Ingrid then meets Ellyn who has gone mad over the death of her child and is living alone in a unfamiliar land. Love eventually develops between the two despite the rumours that it sparks. I thought it was a very lovely unconventinal story and the love between the two women was very realistic. The ending was kind of bittersweet but I thought it was perfect.

Description

In the 1870s two remarkable women meet in a remote country in Western Australia. Ingrid is a botanist, fiercely independent and travelling alone as she collects botanical specimens. Ingrid puts her own troubles aside on meeting Ellyn, a young woman living in stark isolation and driven close to madness by the death of her baby.
