Late nineteenth-and early twentieth-century French writer Romain Rolland remains best known for his epic coming-of-age tale, Jean Christoph. Author Biography:

William Thomas Starr (1910 - 1999) earned a Ph.D. in French literature in 1938 at the University of Oregon, and taught Romance languages at Northwestern University from 1946-1978.
