Author Biography:

Diane Bilyeu has a degree in theatre and public speaking from Idaho State University. Her love and strong belief in the importance of theatre for children has led Diane to create this play. She believes self confidence, self-esteem, and reading flluency are natural outcomes when children perform in front of their families or peers. She has watched her own grandchildren develop as a direct result of performing in Reader's Theatre. She is also the author of "Reader's Theater USA", a compilation of five original plays including a DVD. The last time Diane's family gathered for Thanksgiving they performed "A Conversation with Shakespeare". Her entire family participated, aged eight to eighty. Twelve year olds took the parts of Romeo and Juliet. Eight, nine, and twelve year olds played servants and witches. Fifteen and seventeen year olds played interviewer, narrator, and Shakespeare. Fifty year old family members play Tybalt and Benvolio. All was performed with only one rehearsal. P.S. Diane just completed eight years as an Idaho State Senator.
