Hallie Ahern was a big time investigative reporter in Boston until she compromised a story for the man she loved - who turned out to be Mr. Wrong. Now, she's trying to put her life back together in Rhode Island, working at a tiny satellite bureau of The Providence Morning Chronicle. Then, one late night on her way home from the supermarket, she witnesses a murder. The police think it was a robbery gone awry, but Hallie can't let it go. This could be her opportunity to re-enter the world of investigative journalism, something she wasn't aware she even wanted to do, and she begins digging into the victim's gambling past.
