This brief but comprehensive account of the history of witchcraft in England was first published in 1866 and researched from material then not previously published. It gives an account of how witchcraft was viewed, from an early mention in 1164 of charges against Thomas a'Becket, through to the height of persecution of witches in the 17th century.
