Author Biography:

Jordan Summers has had more fun sleeping on rock, snow, and dirt than any one person should be allowed. As a boy in Virginia, he would camp in the woods behind his house. Since then, he's spent absurd amounts of time in the three major ranges and many minor ones, and in forests, canyons, and deserts in every season and weather condition. From 2007 to 2009, Jordan hiked about 1,300 miles to research and write 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Sacramento (first edition), Five-Star Trails around Lake Tahoe, and Easy Hikes Close to Home: Sacramento for Menasha Ridge Press. Jordan is an alumnus of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wilderness Outdoor Educator program, a Leave No Trace trainer, and an NOLS/Wilderness Medicine Institute-certified Wilderness First Responder. All of these affiliations help him pursue his passion: to help hikers of all abilities get out there, have a great time there, leave no trace there, and come home safely from there. A volunteer for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, Jordan lives in the Sacramento suburb of Elk Grove, California, with his partner, Karin Connolly. Most importantly, he and Karin frequently get to hike with his children and grandchildren.
