Description

The THIRTY YEAR'S WAR is a troublesome story that takes place in the years 1618-1648 A.D. During this time there was a horrible religious conflict between the Protestants and the Catholics. This feud caused unbelievable suffering and the death to almost 10 million people! Many vicious battles and sieges destroyed the population and cities in the middle of Europe. Famine and sicknesses added to the suffering of women, men, and children. It did not matter if you were a famous military leader or a noble, no one was safe and just going to church at the wrong place and the wrong time could get you killed! Accompany young Malcolm Graheme and witness his very dangerous way through this challenging time. Albrecht Wallenstein, a brilliant general was so frustrated about this religious conflict that he almost changed sides. So his Ruler, Ferdinand II feared for his throne and let his own greatest military leader be killed by his confidants. Just for religious reasons even the Swedish king Gustav Adolph lost his life at the brutal battle of Ltzen. Many barbarous massacres happened - 27 nobles, knights, and citizens were publicly decapitated in Prague. The whole controversy developed into a very unclear tragedy for power by different European rulers. Neither side involved in this feud was willing to give in, causing it to last nearly 30 years! At the end there was no winner or loser - we all lost! If you enjoy historical stories then you will want to read this book! This story was written and published so that this essential part of our History will never be forgotten. Let this book take you back in time to a very interesting tale of life or death.
