Author Biography:

Michael Bright has produced many programs with the BBC's Natural History Unit. He and his colleagues are based in Bristol, England, but they scour the globe for stories and images. Bright is the author of over 80 natural history books, including Andes to Amazon: A Guide to South America and the producer of numerous television and radio programs, including the award-winning television series Natural World and Wildlife on BBC One. He has also been editorial consultant on several reference works. Koichiro Matsuura is Director-General of UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), a specialized United Nations agency committed to promoting international collaboration through education, science, and culture. The World Heritage Convention is an international treaty adopted by the member countries of UNESCO in 1972 with the goal of identifying, protecting, and preserving the world's outstanding cultural and natural heritage for future generations.
